In her first year of showing at the Waxahachie Farmers Market, Reanna Gerky, who sells soy candles and wax melts, says she’s been impressed with the venue.

“I’ve visited a lot of markets and this one is one of the better one,’ Gerky shared with the Sun on a recent Saturday. “I just started selling at the market. I’ve already sold some online.”

Under a sign of “Free Smells and Smiles,” Gerky offers handmade scented candles and waxes all made from U.S.-grown soybeans.

“Since beginning to make these, I’ve even learned how to make the wax decorations on the tops,” she said. “I burn a lot of scented candles. So, looking at the cost to buy them, I decided to make my own and it has ben a lot of fun.”

Her candles feature a variety of scents, including seasonal ones, with scents such as vanilla bean, aloha, pear blossom, Tahitian vanilla, apricot and others among the offerings.

Common Scents’ booth is located in the back of the market building, which is located at 701 Howard Road and open from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 22 this year.
